Introduction
To keep the ProSim navigational database (Navdata) updated with real world data, you update its AIRAC (or Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control) database.
ProSim uses Navigraph AIRAC data for its updates. Navigraph requires a small monthly subscription fee to access the latest AIRAC data. In my opinion, it is one of the best values for the dollar in the sim world. You get so much more with your membership, including SimBrief which is highly recommended for creating detailed IFR flight plans for your routes (no, I don’t get a commission from the referral).
AIRAC data is published every 28 days (13 times a year) and follows the format YYRR (where YY is the last two digits of the year and RR is the release number). For more information on what is typically included in an AIRAC update, see Navigraph’s Navigation Data page.
ProSim737 AIRAC Data Location/Setting
The ProSim AIRAC data files can be found on your Windows PC by default at “C:\ProgramData\ProSim-AR\Navdata“.
NOTE: When creating the ProSim Addon Mapping in Navigraph FSM Data Manager, select "ProSim737 2.24b1 (and above)" from the available software choices and make sure the Addon path is set to "C:\ProgramData\".
Installing Navigraph FMS Data Manager and Updating AIRAC Data
- To update your ProSim737 Navigraph AIRAC data, you’ll need to download and install the Navigraph FMS Data Manager application. Note that updates for ProSim are NOT available through their newer Navigraph Hub application.
- Once installed, open the application and you’ll be required to enter your Navigraph username and password. Go ahead and log in.

- Once logged in you’ll be at the Addon List window. If this is your first time opening the application, you may be asked to scan for installed addons. That’s your choice.

- At this point, if ProSim was not identified as an addon automatically, or you bypassed letting Navigraph scan for addons, click the Addon Mappings button in the top right, then click on the Add Button and choose “ProSim737 2.24b1 (and above)” from the dropdown menu. If ProSim737 2.24b1 (and above) is already showing in the list, verify the path is correct, per step 5 below.

- Now click the “Install Into” button and choose “Default Folder”

It should create an entry for ProSim737 with “C:\ProgramData\” as the default location. This is correct.
Note: If the location is not correct, click the folder icon to the right of the “Manual” button to choose “C:\ProgramData\” as the location. The FMS Data Manager will automatically place the files in the appropriate subfolders so you don’t need to drill down to the final data location.
Now, click the Save button to commit the changes, and when it has finished indexing, click the Addon List button to return back to the main update screen. - Click the checkbox next to the ProSim737 2.24b1 (and above) entry, and finally click the Update button.

- Once the update is complete, your AIRAC data should be updated to the latest version.

Verifying AIRAC data is installed into ProSim737 correctly
Once you have updated the AIRAC data, verify it has been installed correctly.
- When you start ProSimB738, you should see a notification window that says the database is being updated. If you don’t, likely ProSim was not updated.
To confirm the data has been updated, start ProSim and click on Config > Database:
Then check the Navigation database section to confirm it is the one you downloaded earlier:
- The CDU should also indicate the latest version of AIRAC data. If it’s outdated, it will tell you you’re using outdated NavData at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise, you can go to the FMC > IDENT page to see the current AIRAC version in use.

- As a last confirmation, if necessary, browse to the “C:\ProgramData\ProSim-AR\Navdata” folder and validate the files have been updated. I use the Date Modified column to verify the file date is in line with the expected start date of the AIRAC data release.
